Tulsa By the Numbers: Fire Department Salaries

Fire protection is important, of course, which is why the city of Tulsa employs professional firefighters to safeguard the lives and property of the city's residents.

These services cost money, including money for salaries. According to figures published by the Tulsa World, Tulsa Fire Chief Ray Driskell has a total annual salary of about $145,000.

Salaries for the city's fire district chiefs average about $100,000. The fire department employs 17 people at that rank.

Salaries for the rank-and-file firefighters vary from about $40,000 into the $60,000 range.

The salary figures are from February 2014, according to the World's online database.
