Tulsa By Numbers: Education

High school and college education are now two key factors when it comes to joining the global economy. So why are the numbers high school dropouts decreasing around the state.

In Oklahoma, the number of high school graduates has slowly dropped over the past four years. This has been linked closely with lower income students. 

While the numbers in Oklahoma may be increasing, the numbers in Tulsa public schools are decreasing in middle school, junior high and high school. Down from 906 in the 2011-2012 school year to 745 secondary school dropouts in 2012-2013. 

These numbers come from public schools in the Tulsa county area. 

Tulsa has a percentage higher than the rest of the of the states in the United States when it comes to people with a bachelors degree or higher, 30.1% while the rest of the country is at 29.3%.
